Circuit Race & Road Race Omnium

Date:  Saturday April 5th 2008 & Sunday April 6th 2008

UPDATE: The road race on Sunday April 6th will also be part of the 2008 Washington Cup. Below is more information:

The Washington Cup is a Cat 1-2 Men's, Cat 1-2 Women's and Masters A Road Race series which includes 8 of the hardest “classics” events in Washington State. The goal of the series is to promote road racing in Washington, raise the level of competition for each race and crown the best “classics” riders. The Washington Cup champions will receive a Washington Cup Trophy. Click here for more information

• Saturday: Circuit Race. Spokane Raceway Park. Stage at:

  Notes: you will need to turn left on the road just before the casino if heading north on Hayford. If heading south on Hayford, you will turn right just after the casino. Continue on that side road until you see the bike race signs that will guide you to the parking and registration area on the race track. If you get lost, you can call: 509.xxx.xxxx
  
  Bathrooms are available at the race track facilities.
   
• Sunday: Road Race. Cheney Washington area. Stage at:
  Salnave Elementary School
  1015 Salnave Road

  Notes: from Cheney, continue on W 1st/Lt Col Michael Anderson Memorial Highway to Presley Drive just outside Cheney. Turn right on Presley Drive and proceed to the school on the right. Registration will be setup on the north side of the school. If you get lost, you can call: 509.xxx.xxxx
  
  Portable bathrooms are available at the tennis courts on the south side of the school.
   
• Purse / Awards:
  
  • Based on the total number of riders registered (all fields) with a maximum total purse of $1000 to cover all fields
  • Fields of 20 riders will award prizes to the top 5 finishers
  • Fields of 4-19 riders will award prizes to the top 3 finishers
  • Fields of fewer than 3 riders will be combined with other fields
  • Awards for GC only. Awards will be mailed after the event
  • Primes may also be awarded in the circuit race. The Metabolic Institute will be providing a prime for the Women's field and the Senior Men 3/Master Men A pack.
    
• Points
  • Points for each event (road race and crit/circuit) are awarded as follows:
    1st - 20
    2nd - 16
    3rd - 13
    4th - 10
    5th - 8
    6th - 6
    7th - 4
    8th - 3
    9th - 2
    10th - 1
  • Any tie will be decided based on placing in the road race.
    
• Results
  • Final results from the race on Saturday will be posted at the check-in area for the race on Sunday
  • Final results from the Sunday race and GC will be posted online Monday or Tuesday following the event. Please don't ask for the results on Sunday after the race.
     
• Registration
  • Pre-Registration Only - No Exceptions. For the last two years we have been moving to a pre-registration event only. This year no exceptions... get those entries in early. Registration due by midnight pacific time Wednesday April 2nd, 2008.
  • No Refunds
    
• USA Cycling Permit # 2008 - 467
  
• Only USA Cycling licenses will be honored. Canadians must race on their UCI license when they come to the USA. One day licenses can be purchased by cat 4/5 men and cat 4 women. Cat 3 racers and above are required to purchase an annual license available at www.usacycling.org. But, we encourage everyone to purchase or renew your license before this event! It will help speed up the registration/check-in process. 
  
• If you have an annual racing license, you MUST bring it with you. Having the number on your release form is not enough. 
  
• Please note the following USA Cycling rule:
  1A31. An omnium is a set of races in which riders compete for points in each event and final placings are determined by total points in all events. Riders do not have to participate in each event of the omnium. 
• No parking is available at the finish line of the road race on Sunday. Officials working the finish line will utilize the existing parking areas. 
• Numbers - you will use the same number given to you at registration check in for both days of racing. Don't forget your number on the second day! WSBA numbers are not used for this event. Numbers are to be worn on the right side both days and must be clearly visible for the camera at the finish line. Frame numbers also must be used and be clearly visible. 
  
• Check in - Note the check in times on the schedule below. Check in for your circuit race at least 30 minutes before your event. Check in for the road race on Sunday closes at 9:30am. DO NOT forget to sign in the second day before your race... and before 9:30am. For those just racing on Sunday only, check-in also closes at 9:30. Do not show up after 9:30 and expect to get signed in and pick up numbers, etc. 
• Make sure your bicycle is in good operating condition and you are not missing handlebar end plugs,
  etc.  
• Read the USAC rule book for additional rules regarding racing. If you don't have your copy, a copy can be found at www.usacycling.org

Five (5) racers make a field! If the field is not met, the racers will race in their USAC categories. Categories may be split or combined if required. Women categories will be scored separately if fields are met. If there are less than five (5) Juniors, they will race in their closest USAC category.
