* Home healthcare equipment, such as hospital beds, wheelchairs and
transfer benches from the Loan Closet.
* Prescriptions assistance
* Emergency assistance (heat, lights, utilities and groceries)
* Disposable medical supplies (bed pads and Depends etc.)
* Food supplements, such as Ensure, Ensure+ and Boost
* Transportation assistance to cancer related appointments
* Breast cancer screening
* Bras and prostheses
* Wigs, scarves and hats

Cancer Facts
* 24,800 new cases of cancer will be diagnosed in Washington State
during 2001
* In Spokane County alone, 1,865 new cases were diagnosed in the year
2000
* Men have 1 in 2 lifetime risk of developing
* Women have a 1 in 3 lifetime risk of developing cancer
* Cancer is the second leading cause of death in the United States
* Cancer does not discriminate. The diagnosis can come at anytime,
regardless of a person's age, gender, race, religion, lifestyle or income.
* The astronomical costs of cancer can quickly deplete a family's
resources leaving them unable to access care, or even basic living
necessities.

Cancer Patient Care Facts
* During 2001, Cancer Patient Care will serve over 2,300 cancer
patients and family members.
* Each month, 370+ individuals receive assistance from Cancer Patient
Care, and another 275+ people utilize healthcare equipment from the Cancer
Patient Care Loan Closet.
* Family members also receive support services. It is estimated when
one person has cancer, five more are affected.
* All services are free of charge for those who meet income
guidelines.

As a recipient of the Spokane Area Chamber of Commerce Agora Award for
Non-profit Excellence, Cancer Patient Care is an independent, local,
non-profit organization that has provided critical support services for
Inland Northwest cancer patients and their families in need since 1958.
Contributions to Cancer Patient Care are tax deductible.

Cancer Patient Care meets needs in our community, ensuring no one "falls
through the cracks" or goes without help. Cancer Patient Care provides hope
where once there was none.
